The Grinch's Heart
A resource designed for inward reflection around Christmas time.
To look beyond the materialistic aspects of Christmas and find what makes our own heart grow, just as The Grinch’s had. Christmas can be overwhelming for many adults and children and focusing on the things that make us happy, content and loved during these times can be helpful. A word mat is provided as a guide to support those in sentence creation.
Adapted this year (2022) to include the idea of thinking about parts of our bonnie wee Scotland that makes our hearts grow, to be used as Christmas cards for those newly settled in Scotland.
Notes for my next teacher
A lovely way to help next years teacher get to know their class.
Complete with your class and then hand over at your transition meeting, so that next years teacher can get to know them. Display for them coming in August so they know you value them and want to keep getting to know them.
Also a wee template for you to fill one out too! :)

Lyric Analysis - Muppet Christmas Carol
Using two songs from The Muppet Christmas Carol, you can analyse the change in Scrooge from before and after his visits from the ghosts.
Firstly watching and exploring the song ‘Scrooge’ you can ask the children to highlight and analyse lyrics that stand out to them. Secondly you will then use the song ‘Thankful Heart’ and do the same.
This can be displayed in a jotter or on a poster with a visualisation of Scrooge looking grim and miserable on one side and enlightened on the other.
For an example of the jotter layout, check instagram for a reel showing more.
As ever, I would love to see how your learners have used this resource so if possible, please tag me on instagram @TeachingInTechnicolour or twitter @InTechnicolour.
How Far I'll Go - Lyric Analysis
Lyric Analysis sheet for the song ‘How Far I’ll Go’ by Auli’i Cravalho from the Disney film Moana. The first sheet is about highlighting and analysing the lyrics with space to make notes. This can be used to think about the year ahead, goal setting or the concept and emotions of curiosity and exploration. The second sheet is then to set targets, expectations, goals or hopes for the year ahead.
The image in the first resource does not belong to me and credit must be given to Disney but was found through a Google search of free images. The image in the second resource was sourced through VectorStock Images.

iMessage Assessment
A fun an interactive way for children to assess themselves or each other. Children can be prompted to think about questions they could be asked in a text conversation to enable them to share their learning in a deeper way. Taking on the role of the asker and answerer needs the children to think of both sides of coin - learning and sharing the learning.
